What Is a Game Jam?

A game Jam is a game development competition; the aim is to make a small game from scratch within a specific timeframe staying, within the Jams theme and restrictions.

Each Game Jam will have a specific theme, which you won’t know until the Jam starts. The idea is to come together, test ideas, learn something new and collaborate with other game Developers like yourself.

They can either be hosted online or at Face-to-Face events.

Can anyone enter a Game Jam?

Yes, anyone can join, but there may be specific restrictions or requirements for the Jam hosted by the Jam’s owner.

Are they free to enter?

The online hosted Jams on Itch.io are free to enter; however, some face-to-face Jams hosted by other event providers may require you a fee to enter.

How do I find a Game Jam?

Game Jams are a great way to learn new skills, have fun with other game Devs, and practice your skills. It’s another great thing to add to you CV, to say you have completed a project within it’s Deadlines.
