How do I apply?

You can submit a game using this form with the accompanied pitch deck and any other material like promotional videos, gameplay, images or concept art. Humble kindly supplies a link to a pitch deck template of their own that you can use.

What’s a pitch deck?

Think of a pitch deck as a business plan you are “pitching” to potential investors for your new upcoming project that you need funding for; the purpose is to show off your project and tell them why they should invest their time and money.

It could be a PowerPoint showing:

  • In-game art or screen capture of world overview for example
  • Overview of game mechanics
  • Overview of game progression
  • Overview of sounds design and SFX
  • Game scope and vision for the game
  • Gameplay loop
  • Community engagement & interest (for example Wishlist’s on steam)
  • Market comparison against other similar titles genres
  • Full business plan of cost to complete the project

Do I need a publisher?

Do you need a publisher, maybe not?

One thing to consider is, do the benefits outweigh the cut that the publisher is going to take from your earnings? Remember if you publish a game on steam for example, they will take a 30% cut from all games you have sold, and then the publisher will also take their agreed cut from the sale; not to mention, your taxes and other fees that you may apply, i.e. Fees from a game engine if you exceed the earning potential threshold.

Stop and think

Is the deal worth it, what’s the restrictions or conditions when signing the deal.

There are a lot of things to consider when thinking about a publisher, but you may not even need one; you may already have the following or community already for your game.
